"Add to Desktop" option missing on Mac |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 58.2998 OS: OS X Sierra 10.12.2 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Open https://example.com (2) Open the Chrome Menu > More Tools "Add to Desktop" item is missing. This looks to be related to the IsNewBookmarkAppsEnabled() check of a command-line flag?

This is intentional. This feature doesn't exist on OSX due to being an incomplete implementation. It can be enabled via a flag.

Owen-- Can you link to the bug tracking that implementation? Thanks!

I can't find that, although note we are intentionally not currently working on supporting this on OSX for product reasons. cc benwells in case he has a link to a crbug for overall "bookmark apps on OSX" tracking

Issue 565591 is the first issue I found, it's not had much activity :)

Why is this WontFix? After all Google's talk about PWAs is this just not supported on Mac?

Re. #8, you might want to star issue 565591. The WontFix doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be added, only that the option being missing isn't exactly a bug.
