We need a recipe that chooses a code path based on the age of the current checkout. We can do this with the whitelisted datetime module, but having code that is not covered by recipe-simulation-test is not ideal.

Could we have a module that takes test_step_data and so on?

At least, it should be able to mock the current time and calculate a time delta based on two unix timestamps or time/datetime objects.
