ChromeOS 55: USB Lacking - poor performance for LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 (1.0.0.46)

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8872.76.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.105 Safari/537.36
Platform: 8872.76.0 (Official Build) stable-channel peppy

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3
2. Goto programming canvas
3. Insert in USB a powered-up EV3 with attached sensors
4. See that update sensor are very slow (almost 3 times slower than using Bluetooth)

What is the expected behavior?
Faster USB, worked in Chrome 54

What went wrong?
Someone must have done something bad.

Did this work before? Yes ChromeOS 54

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.105  Channel: stable
OS Version: 8872.76.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0/24.0.0.186

The app uses chrome.hid.send and chrome.hid.receive for the USB communication
