Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.76 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. On a regular webpage such as https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/list, CTRL-F and enter an international special character such as ü (0x9F) What is the expected behavior? Should only match characters that have the literal value entered in the Find input. What went wrong? Find matches all regular 'u' characters on the page. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 56.0.2924.76 Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0 Reproducible on all platforms.

Able to reproduce this issue on Mac 10.12.2, Win-10 and Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome reported version #56.0.2924.76 and latest canary #58.0.3000.4. This is a non-regression issue as it is observed from M30 old builds. Hence, marking it as untriaged to get more inputs from dev team. Thanks...!!

IMHO, Chrome should normalize the characters on the page, but not the characters in the search box. That way, searching for "u" will find both "u" and "ü", but searching for "ü" will find only "ü".

@rouslan Yes, the desired behavior you describe is how Safari currently handles find (contains) with a special character.
