Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/56.0.2924.76 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Set Chrome's unmaximized window size to a size smaller than it would be maximized. 2. Maximize Chrome. 3. Open the Activities screen in GNOME and then open the applications list. 4. Observe Chrome's screenshot. What is the expected behavior? Chrome screenshot fades away like the other apps. What went wrong? Chrome screenshot clips into it's unmaximized size, which looks bad. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 56.0.2924.76 Channel: stable OS Version: Ubuntu Gnome 16.10 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0 See video of issue: https://youtu.be/Dx2w9YvlsZI

This also happens in other situations, like when closing a window, you'll see the unmaximized size for a split second. It's most visible with a incognito window. 1. Unmaximize. 2. Set window size to a small area. 3. Maximize. 4. Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new incognito window. 5. Watch the page background as you press Ctrl+W to close it. The dark background goes to the unmaximized size for a split second before disappearing. I've attached a video showcasing the issue while closing an incognito window.

Unable to reproduce the issue on Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome reported version #56.0.2924.76 and latest dev #57.0.2987.13. Attached a screen cast for your reference. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Unmaximize the browser. 2. Set window size to a small area. 3. Maximized again. 4. Pressed Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new incognito window. 5. Pressed Ctrl+W to close it. 6. Didn't observe dark background going to the unmaximized size for a split second before disappearing. jetison.24@ - Could you please check this issue on latest dev #57.0.2987.13 by creating a new profile without any apps and extensions and please let us know if the issue still persist or not. Thanks...!!

I tested on 57.0.2987.13 with no custom extensions except GNOME Shell Integration (which for some reason says it's installed by enterprise) (also the Google suite is installed by default it seems). It seems to still happen, although maybe less often when using the incognito window. The Show Applications animation still triggers it. From your screen record, it looks like you have animations disabled though. If I disable animations then it works fine. The issue happens during the animation. For the most likely reproduction you should run Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with animations enabled and follow the steps in the original post to trigger the "Show Applications" animation. Also may be of note, my GPU is a Radeon RX 480, running the AMDGPU driver. I've attached my chrome://gpu output. Here's a video showing the issue again on the aforementioned Chrome version, reproducing it with both incognito windows and the "Show Applications" animation, also showing the issue going away when animations are disabled: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BSayjW0XUc&feature=youtu.be
