Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: the text in articles on thurrott.com appears fuzzy/blurry and undefined compared to Firefox on my Moto E (2nd gen). I have noticed though that, as the page is loading, the text looks good and defined for a brief second, then it becomes blurry. I guess Chrome is applying some kind of AA or smoothing to the text? I have included 2 screenshots note: it's not just on thurrott.com, but the difference between Chrome and Firefox is bigger than other sites. Almost across the board Firefox has clearer, more defined text than Chrome What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? see above Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 56 Channel: stable OS Version: 6.0 Flash Version:

We are able to repro this issue on Chrome stable: 55.0.2883.91 Device: MotoE/LPC23

This is due to chrome always using subpixel anti aliasing for webfonts as most webfonts are poorly hinted. This is an intentional decision which improves legibility on most sites but makes the text a little blurry on others. Thanks for your feedback. We'll certainly take it into account when we next reevaluate our font rendering.

Ah, I see. Thank you :) Is there a way to turn that off? Because I notice for the first second or two the page is loading, text looks excellent and sharp

is it possible that the devices 150% system scaling is behind this text looking blurry in Chrome? |
