This "Unknown" is actually taken from the "artist" field of audio files.

In Images and Videos views, the directory structure is DirectoryName/FileName. But in Audio view, the directory structure is ArtistName/DirectoryName/FileName. This is how media documents providers are implemented in Android. I believe the same "Unknown" directory is shown in Android file picker.

Weifang, do you think we want to do anything here?

Thanks for the explanation Shuhei!

As this is reflecting "expected" behavior, no action at this time. However, I'll keep this issue open and assigned to me to see if there's any improvements we can make as we rethink the Files App UX.
