Material Settings can freeze Chrome when opening `Keychain Access.app` |
||||||
Issue descriptionChrome 57.0.2987.8 OSX 10.12.2 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Make sure you're on Material settings (2) chrome://settings (3) Press "Advanced" at the bottom (4) Press "Manage certificates" What is the expected result? Chrome doesn't freeze. What happens instead? If `Keychain Access.app` locks up while loading (which it seems to do for me right now), Chrome freezes. In order to get Chrome to freeze, you have to force quit Keychain Access.

Ah, I missed previous comment, already triaged by @tbuckley. I'll take a look...

@lgarron: Is this happening only with the new MD Settings page? Can you try the old settings (by visiting chrome://settings-frame)? The code that invokes the "Keychain Access.app" is identical between old and new settings. FWIW, I was not able to reproduce this on my Mac.

Also can't reproduce on my Mac, clicking "manage cert" opens Keychain Access fine. I'm guessing the bug report says "IF" Keychain Access freezes, then chrome freezes with it, so we'll have to somehow make Keychain Access freeze first to observe the behavior?

> I'm guessing the bug report says "IF" Keychain Access freezes, then chrome freezes with it, so we'll have to somehow make Keychain Access freeze first to observe the behavior? Yes. I think you can consistently get this to happen by importing https://github.com/chromium/badssl.com/blob/master/certs/sets/prod/pregen/chain/subdomain-10000-sans.pem (To unfreeze, see http://www.commandlinefu.com/commands/view/20395/delete-a-certificate-from-the-macos-security-keychain)
