Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open a new tab 2. Tap the upper right hand corner of a thumbnail on a touch screen What is the expected behavior? Chrome loads the page corresponding to the tapped thumbnail What went wrong? Chrome removes the thumbnail Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 55.0.2883.87 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0 The current behaviour is correct for a mouse click, because before the click the "X" button is made visible when the mouse hovers it. There is no hover event for for a tap on a touch screen, so in this case there is no warning the thumbnail will be removed. This is a re-open of archived issue 580776 , since it still reproduces on the latest stable release.

Able to reproduce the issue on Win 10 using Stable 55.0.2883.87 and canary 8.0.2991.0. This is a non-regression issue since 37.0.2032.0. Untriaged to get adressed further. Note:Do not have Linux and mac touch devices to test from India.

The "new" NTP (as I see in 69.0.3497.100) replaces the "X" for removing thumbnails with "⋮" to open an "Edit shortcut" dialog. This still results in behaviour not yet signalled by the UI (which also affects mouse users because there's now a time delay on the "⋮" appearing after hover) but since this is a cancellable dialog it's not as disruptive to the user as when it actually resulted in the thumbnail removal. I would understand if this is the preferred behaviour, and would at least drop the priority of any further improvement. Also, UI>Shell>TabletMode doesn't seem an appropriate tag here; it affects UI>Browser>NewTabPage in all modes when interacted with using UI>Input>Touch. |
