Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-3ndrpFZW8&feature=youtu.be What is the expected behavior? The foreground window should keeps in foreground. What went wrong? The foreground window brought up unexpectedly. Did this work before? Yes Around Chrome 50 Chrome version: 55.0.2883.87 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0 As I remember, old versions of Chrome (maybe Chrome 50 or before) do not have this problem. I can confirm this is a problem for ChangJie IME users for a long time, I'll try to record a video to demonstrate the problem here. Since this is not 100% reproducible so.. wish me luck :(

Finally I'm able to record a video demonstrating the problem =D - Google Chrome 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit) - Windows 10 Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.447) Description: 00:00 ~ 00:30: Showing the OS Version, Chrome Version, all extensions and plugins disabled. 00:30 ~ 01:10: You can skip all these.. I'm just trying to reproduce the problem 01:16: Problem happened - The focus in Big Chrome window, then I use Alt-Tab to switch focus to the Small Chrome window, you can see the Small Chrome window was bring to top-level for just half a second and then the focus was switched back to the Big Chrome window. 01:48: Problem happened again - You can see after Alt-Tab, the IME is focusing to the Small Chrome window, however the Big Chrome window was brought to the front and I cannot see Small Chrome window at all. I tried to type Chinese using ChangJie IME, the IME selection panel appear at a position just like I'm typing in the Small Chrome window. 02:07: This time I hold Alt-Tab without releasing the button, so you can see Windows OS thought the Small Chrome window is in focus and should be in the front (it's the first choice in Alt-Tab list), and the Big Chrome window should below the Small one. However in practice I can only see the Big Chrome window and the Small Chrome window is behind it.

@hdodda@chromium.org The problem can be reproduced using Chrome "Version 60.0.3112.78 (Official Build) (64-bit)", I can easily reproduce it. Thanks for not giving up this bug, this is really annoying for ChangJie IME users.

I have this issue too. I am using 62.0.3202.29 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) on Windows 10 ver 1703 build 15063.540. It doesn't always happen, but whenever this happens the IME would be showing the 中/英 popup (to indicate whether the IME is in Chinese or English mode). Sometimes, weirdly the 中/英 popup would not appear. Whenever the 中/英 popup does not appear, this bug doesn't seem to happen. But whenever it does start to appear, this bug will eventually show up. I believe if you have both "English (US) - US" and "Chinese (Traditional, Hong Kong)" keyboard layouts added and switch between them (with Alt + Shift) then this bug will appear randomly.

I think Issue 675307 might be about the same bug.

after a year, the problem is still existing in Chrome 64.0.3282.140

Feb 15 2018
Checked the issue on reported chrome version 55.0.2883.87 and on the latest stable 64.0.3282.167 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Launched Chrome 2. Opened two windows and resized them on screen 3. Tried clicking on search field on one window then shifted the focus to other window.(Language has changed to Chinese) We are able to search/operate two windows with out any issue i.e., unfocused windows isn't getting on the screen. Attaching the screen cast of the same. Note: Tentatively adding Blink>Editing>IME and UI>Input>Text>IME for further help by respective team in triaging this further. Please help with appropriate component if they are not. Adding label TE-NeedsTriageHelp.

Hello Vamshi Kommuri, I think you were using the wrong IME to test it, you should use "Changjie" IME. I suggest that you should find Taiwanese/Hongkongers colleagues to test it out. And there are 3 videos reported by 3 different users in the thread, you may check them carefully. Video in Comment 2: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=683801#c2 Video in Comment 4: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=683801#c4 Video in Comment 10: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=683801#c10

This definitely still happens with 65.0.3325.73 beta. The trigger is still unknown to me. re Comment 15: Perhaps try Cangjie like Comment 16 said. A good way to test it out is to open two Chrome windows, focus on the omnibox on both, switch to the IME, then repeatedly switch between the two windows with Alt+Tab.

Remove Blink>Editing>IME because this is happened in omnibox.

Has anyone looked into this or got any pointers for somebody to look into? This is still happening still happening dozens of times daily and is a huge annoyance to typing anything. Chrome 69.0.3497.57 beta on Windows 10 1709 and 1803

I agree, this is extremely annoying and I tried to switch back to Firefox just because of this (well, I failed because the performance of Chrome is still much better than Firefox even with this annoying bug :( ) Version 68.0.3440.106 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Can't believe that such annoying bug still have not been fixed in Chrome 69 :/

I think I have finally found a way to reproduce this issue: 1. Set homepage to default new tab page 2. Close all Chrome windows and minimize all other applications (if any) 3. Ensure current IME is set to Cangjie 4. Launch Chrome via desktop or taskbar shortcut 5. If Chrome window is maximized, restore to un-maximized state 6. Press Alt+D to focus on the omnibox 7. Press Ctrl+N to open a new window 8. Press Alt+D to focus on the omnibox 9. Press Alt+Tab to switch back to the first window 10. The active window will become obscured behind the inactive one Please see if this helps triage the issue.

**UI Mass Triage** This issue is still reproducible on windows using latest canary #72.0.3618.0 with steps mentioned in C#22, tested by adding Chinese language and by changing IME to Cangjie. Hence Adding appropriate labels. Thanks! |
