Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/57.0.2986.0 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: Make a recording in Perf panel. Hover over the Overview pane. What is the expected behavior? Mouse icon changes shape to indicate that you can focus on a portion of the recording by clicking and dragging left-right. What went wrong? There's no visual clue that this is possible. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 57.0.2986.0 Channel: dev OS Version: OS X 10.11.6 Flash Version: Idea came from a DevTools user: https://twitter.com/Akasuna/status/821817131704745984

In latest Canary OS X, hovering the mouse over the overview changes the cursor to an I-beam, as well as the blue line that tracks mouse movement. Is it unclear that this can be used to selection? or is the I-beam not noticeable? If the latter, it could be changed to something clearer like col-resize, but it would then conflict with the cursor over the sizer handles (the small gray boxes at the top of left/right edges of the current selection).

I don't know about Canary; I am using Chrome 55.0.2883.87 on Windows. The I-beam is visible on hover in the "Timeline" tab only. In the "Profiles" tab, after using "Record Allocation Timeline", the behavior is slightly different: the I-beam appears on drag motion, but you get the regular arrow cursor if you hover the timeline.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I'd expected the overview in a Record Allocation Timeline to behave the same as the overview in Timeline/Performance: * Have an I-beam on hover (not just mousedown) * Have a blue line that tracks the movement of the mouse
