Chrome Version: 57.0.2978.0
Chrome OS Version: 9034.0.0
Chrome OS Platform: Chromebook Pixel
Network info: not relevant
* Also confirmed with 55.0.2883.103 / 8872.73.0 Chromebook Pixel 2. Therefore this is likely to reproduce on any other environment.
Steps To Reproduce:(1) Prepare an SD card with some new images (=have not backed up by Cloud Backup) in /DCIM folder.
(2) Close the lid of the device (to enter sleep mode)
(3) Open the lid (to resume from sleep mode)
(4) See the workspace appears
(5) Wait ~3 seconds (or less).
(6) Insert the SD card.
(2)+(3) can be replaced by "logging to the device".
Expected Result:
- Files app opens the DCIM folder of the media automatically. Cloud Backup popup should show up after the scan detected new files.
- (If the SD card were not to have the DCIM folder, "removable media detected" notification should appear instead.)
Actual Result:
- Files app doesn't open automatically.
- (If the SD card were not containing the DCIM folder, "removable media detected" notification doesn't appear.)
- Note that you can still see the media volume mounted if you manually start Files app.
How frequently does this problem reproduce? (Always, sometimes, hard toreproduce?)
Always, if the media is inserted early enough.
What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what isit?
- User won't be able to start cloud backup (or browsing the media) smoothly.
- Workaround 1: Manually launch the Files app, choose the DCIM folder, then find and click the Cloud Backup button.
- Workaround 2: Unplug the media once and plug it again.
