Find (cmd+f) fails when nothing found on one page then navigate to another that does match the term

Reported by peter.m....@gmail.com, Jan 13 2017

Issue description

Chrome Version: 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit)
URLs: https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-09-01.html -> https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-10-01.html
Other browsers tested:

*   Safari 10.0.2 (11602.3.12.0.1): OK
*   Firefox 48.0.1: OK
*   Chromium : FAIL

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Launch Chrome
2. Load https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-09-01.html
3. Press cmd+f type in “bluetooth” and hit enter, it will find 0 matches
4. Click on the link in the sidebar for “October 2016”, which navigates the browser to: https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-10-01.html
5. Press cmd+f, it will be pre-populated with the highlighted word “bluetooth”, hit enter
6. UNEXPECTED: The page might scroll to the first instance of the word “BlueTooth” on that page, but not highlight it and the find window shows “0 of 0”
7. Clear the value in the find window and retype “bluetooth”, it is then successfully found on the page

System Configuration: (Mac OS 10.11.6) on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inc, Mid 2014), Processes: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

I tested this on a couple Apple laptops and they all had this issue. I feel like this bug has existed for years.

Steps 2 & 3 are important, it appears that this only happens if the Find failed on the prior page. If it succeeded, it appears to work fine on the second page.

Screenshots attached:

* example of the Find failing on the 2nd page (step 6)
* example of the same Find working on the same exact page after I rewrote the word “bluetooth” (step 7)

Here is the screenshot of the unexpected result in step 6.

Here is the screenshot of step 7, where it works after I simply retype the same exact word.
