I am actually not able to enable it in the Google Play Store. Yes I have enjoyed 7.1.1 Android n, and the newest version of Google Chrome 55 I believe.

ok, so it is not an Amazon app that is forwarding you to this playstore link for updating WebView, is this correct?

In Android N and above WebView app is disabled by default. The WebView implementation is delivered as part of the Chrome apk. As long as your Chrome is up to date, your WebView is up to date.
