Use web manifest badge icon for media notifications |
||||||||
Issue descriptionA new "purpose" field to icons in a page's Web Manifest enables websites to customize the default icon which shows up in the system tray for notifications. How about using it for Media Session notifications as well? See https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!topic/blink-dev/1ebMBNhqRew

I don't think there is much UX to be done here apart from a go/no-go, the manifest already provides the icons and the idea would be to use it. It's not urgent at the moment though.

Is this the same icon that is used for the home screen or a different one? If the latter, do we know whether anyone is specifying this additional icon?

It's a different one that can be used for Push Notifications.

We are going to use the badge from the Manifest on Android 6.0+ (M+) if there is one.
