Chrome compromised by malware?

Reported by matthazi...@gmail.com, Jan 11 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1 run a clean install of chrome (again)
2. do whatever else you want
3. install Google translate extension and watch your browser be hijacked everytime and nothing fixes not malware or antivirus program. No uninstaller program that cleans everything can fix it. Eventually it will get hijacked by a worse pop up page. WHY!!!!!

What is the expected behavior?
My start up page only like i set in settings.

What went wrong?
If I knew that sir or mam Obviously I would have repaired the annoying problem

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.87 Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

I like to be in control of what webpages i see or let open.

Summary: Chrome compromised by malware? (was: Chrome has holes!!!)
Which "Google translate" extension did you install specifically, and from where did you install it?

Can you visit chrome://net-internals/#modules in the browser and copy the text of that page into an update to this issue?

After that, please see https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2765944?hl=en for tips on helping ensure your browser is free of malware.
