Follow continue URL from account settings page after signout on mobile

Project Member Reported by ew...@chromium.org, Jan 11 2017

Issue description

See the flow in this slide: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1IQ2s2vfaSvCQR6NsXIH1AI_iKDLAz1sNSngZQPSHKgo/edit#slide=id.g1a6072c051_0_4

When a user clicks "Manage accounts" from /SignOutOptions, and then clicks "Sign out of Chrome," we may want to follow the continue URL that gets passed to Chrome instead of just punting the user back to /SignOutOptions.

We'd need to make sure that the continue URLs getting passed to Chrome from GAIA can handle a signed-out state.

This shouldn't be necessary. The service will redirect to the login page when they don't support signed-out users, which is likely the desired behavior (and definitely better than SignOutOptions).

Ah yes, that is exactly what I'd expect (and hope) would happen :) Thanks for the info Nick.

Mihai, sounds like we may be able to do this by just not ignoring the continue URL if the user signed out of Chrome (no additional work from GAIA side needed).

Comment 3 by nickk@google.com, Jan 11 2017

(we'll actually need to start sending the continue url - I don't think we do for that particular button)

Comment 4 by ew...@chromium.org, Jan 11 2017

My understanding (from Mihai) is that we get the continue URL whenever we get a 204 response when the user clicks on either the "Go incognito" button or the "Manage accounts" button.

Do we not currently set it when the user clicks "Manage accounts"? That is part of the protocol, right?

Comment 5 by nickk@google.com, Jan 12 2017

We set it for many of the 204 responses, but not for 'SIGNOUT' (which includes the 'Manage Accounts' button on SignOutOptions).

The continue URL wasn't originally part of the protocol, but we gradually added it for most of the actions.
I think the only reason we didn't add it everywhere was because Chrome didn't look at it anyway for the other actions.

The server-side fix to set the continue URL has been submitted, and should land in production sometime next week.

Comment 7 by ew...@chromium.org, Jan 12 2017

OK, makes sense, thanks Nick.

Mihai, once that change lands in prod, we'll just need to update Chrome to not ignore the continue URL if the user signs out of Chrome!
