Chrome Canary crashes when opening Docs/Drive links from Gmail messages

Issue description

Chrome Version: 57.0.2976.0
OS: (e.g. OSX

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) With VoiceOver on, open gmail in Chrome canary
(2) Open an email that contains a message from Google Docs/Drive (e.g. an email about a shared doc)
(3) Click on the link to open the doc. 

What is the expected result?
The given link / doc opens properly.

What happens instead?
Chrome crashes, consistently.

Had an initial look. I can reproduce in Canary, but not my local build. Also, in Canary it's not 100% consistent - I did manage to get it into a state where I could click the link that would normally repro this crash without getting the crash.
