Inconsistencies in profile name across applications and devices

Reported by vjk0...@gmail.com, Jan 9 2017

Issue description

I have changed my profile name from 'Appamma Subbamma' to Vidya K in my gmail account. On and off I am seeing reference to the old name across applications, example Google Calendar, when I compose the mail etc. I reported this problem couple of months back, when it appeard to be fixed, but I am seeing the problem again. Looks like the profile informations across servers is not getting updated and hence out of Sync.

REPRO STEPS
Change the name in the profile

ACTUAL RESULTS
New name not reflecting across applications

EXPECTED RESULTS
The changed name should reflect across applications consistently

Anything else which may help us debug the issue; screenshots of error
messages or states are always helpful.

So unfortunately there are multiple different names/values here.

If you look in the upper right hand corner of chrome, on the title bar, I see the text "Vidya". That is the preference value "profile.name". As long as all of your devices have enabled syncing preferences, that should be the same between them all. This value is stored inside of Chrome, and I can try to help you if you're having a problem with this value. You can inspect this value by opening chrome://sync-internals -> Sync Node Browser (tab) -> Preferences (node) -> profile.name -> "value": "\"xxxxxxxxxxxxx\""

However, none of the others are Chrome. Those are tied to your Google/Gmail/Calendar account/settings/data. Going to close this as Wont Fix. This bug tracker is specifically for Chrome/Chromium issues.

It seems most of your screenshots are of Gmail. Perhaps https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/gmail/ZH-cdBmzfoE would apply?
