Tested in chrome # 56.0.2924.51 on win 10.0 and not able to reproduce the issue.Provided URL is not working.Please find the screen shots for your reference.

Tested the issue on Win-10 using chrome reported version #56.0.2924.51 and latest canary #57.0.2978.0.

Attached a screen cast for reference.

Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue.

1. Navigated to URL: http://www.filefactory.com/file/107y3xp3zrhv/ShroudedTales3CE.rar (as per comment #2)
2. Clicked on the background.
3. Did not see any chrome pdf viewer getting crashed.

Sorry for the response time, the site is sometimes overloaded and then no longer causes the error.
Tested now, I reproduce it with Version 56.0.2924.67 beta (64-bit) on Windows7 64bits. (on my profile)
Tested with new install with Version 57.0.2986.0 canary (64-bit) (just all default/forced extension removed: Docs,Sheets,Drive....)

Doesn't repro on the latest M-58(58.0.2990.0) and the latest M-57 branched build(57.0.2987.8) on Windows 10. Didn't encounter any crash with the above repro steps.

baudav@: If the crash is consistent, could you please check chrome://crashes and confirm if any crash id is generated there. Attach the crash id if you see any after repro'ing the issue.

I can't reproduce on Win10 (Version 55.0.2883.87), can't reproduce on win8.1 beta and canary, But can reproduce on Win7 more computer.

In the video in the original bug report, at the 10 second mark it says "Unable to load the PDF plugin" in French. Is that what you meant by "crash" ?

If you take a random PDF, like http://www.orimi.com/pdf-test.pdf - does that load?

yes can load PDF, link work, and no problem to open PDF (FYI:PDF file extension is associated with chrome, and open all pdf with chrome)

Cleaning up "Needs-Review" label as we are not using this label for triage. Ref  bug 684919 

From #11 it sounds like this is an issue with very specific PDF files. Do those files open correctly in other browsers and can you attach one of the problematic files to the bug so we can take a look?

I not open PDF; I see in source page meta PDF.. not know why.. hack attempt?

see the same problem with 2 more video download website, when clic search box. (not know why PDF viewer, I not open PDF. I search better popup blocker extension and this kind of site is very good to test popup blocker. In screencast, I use private tab, without extension)

So, I'm confused. Is this a popup that's being blocked? Or a popup that's failing to be blocked but we fail to load it? Can you capture the PDF from devtools so we can see what's in there?

This website is very bad.. more popups before reproduce same.. and Avast block one  java trojan. But after more clic in search box, I reproduce it, in devtools the link is:
