error message is off place

Reported by wji...@crossview.com, Jan 5 2017

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_10_5) AppleWebKit/602.3.12 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0.2 Safari/602.3.12

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.visit www.wrangler.com using Google Chrome
2. in the search box on top right, set focus but type in nothing
3. hit return to search
4. an error shows up, the error message extends out of browser window if the latter is not too wide
5. do the same test on other browsers (like Firefox), the message is always rendered within the browser window frame.

What is the expected behavior?
The whole error message should sit inside the browser window frame.

What went wrong?
part of the error message extends outside of the browser window frame.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit) Channel: n/a
OS Version: OS X 10.10.5
Flash Version:

Components: -UI Blink>Forms>Validation
I think this is working as intended, but re-routing to check.

#3, thanks. Are you using Windows? What's the scaling setting of your Windows?

Scaling is 100% (default). And the result is consistent in Chrome for Windows 10, Windows 7, and Mac OS X 10.10.5. (the message extends from inside the Chrome browser window to outside of its right border). I've tested IE 10 (win7), Edge (win10), Firefox (win7/win7/Mac), and all of them show the whole message within the browser window border. Safari (Mac) does not give a message, but returns a new page telling 0 product found.

Extending a validation bubble over the page viewport is an intentional behavior.

Extending a validation bubble over the screen is a bug. It's Issue 597044 .

As for screen.jpg in Comment #3, it seems the bubble doesn't point the search box correctly. I'm worry that it's a new bug. Is this reproducible on any OSes?

In my test when the browser window is maxed out (to full screen) the message sits within the screen (no issue). When the browser window is not maxed out, the error message extends outside of the browser window border.

The screen.jpg in comment #3 was provided by a colleague. It looks like a full screen case. I've asked him to confirm if that's a fullscreen and will get back to you when I've got an answer. In my tests my screen is wide (laptops) so I cannot say what will happen if the screen wide is not that wide.
My colleague told that it was a fullscreen (the screenshot in comment #3). Will update you when I know what kind of device (PC, teblet, etc.) that was used in the test. Thanks.

My colleague confirmed that the screen.jpg in comment #3 was taken from a PC with full screen. Please advise if you need any more information. Thanks.

#12, Thank you for the information.
I couldn't reproduce the problem in full-screen mode.
I'd like to know:
  - Screen resolution. e.g. 1280x1024
  - Scaling value. e.g. 100%
You can check it in Desktop context menu -> "Display Settings"
  - Whether it's reproducible with Google Chrome 56 Beta or later.
