Memory leak in Time Warner Live TV

Project Member Reported by rsch...@chromium.org, Jan 4 2017

Issue description

Splitting off from issue 662285 . +ericde do you know someone on the media team who (1) has a test account here and (2) can take a look at the issue?

Original report:

Chrome Version :
Operating System and Version:

Google Chrome	53.0.2785.154 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Revision	0
Platform	8530.96.0 (Official Build) stable-channel parrot
Blink	537.36 (@0)
JavaScript	V8 5.3.332.47
Flash	23.0.0.162-r1
User Agent	Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8530.96.0)

NOTICE: The report, even compressed, was too big. Now, since this WAS for a memory / cpu-usage problem, but since there is no attached report, BUT since the tracer itself failed, please consider the following description as context and the Notes as the issues:

Description of performance problem:

https://video2.timewarnercable.com/livetv

Task manager shows page continues consuming more and more shared/private memory at about 20k/s, and page's cpu is over 95%, even though stopped at a breakpoint in devtools (over 2 hours now) -- though for Shockwave-plugin, memory stays basically constant and cpu is around 1%

As of submit-time, current page-mem is now over 750k. (peaked, over 800k)

Summary: Memory leak in Time Warner Live TV (was: Memory leak in Time Warning Live TV)
Cc: posciak@chromium.org
+posciak since this is ChromeOS; though I'd guess the issue is not video related since the video pipeline will be frozen if video is not playing.

moving back to unconfirmed while we try to get an account to use to repro.

Note that timewarnercable requires flash at least to sign in, and it's unclear if this app uses Flash as well for liveTV.

+cc:faniel@ to assist with test accounts if we can.
any update on the liveTV account?

Comment 6 by faniel@google.com, Feb 8 2017

I have reached out, but do not have a livetv test account (yet). I should have an update later in the week.
it's been more than one month since opening this bug. any update on test account?
otherwise I will resolve this issue as won't fix.

playing for 5min w/test account (live tv), memory isn't growing out of control. will check in another 15-20min (memory of spectrum tab jumps between 263mb and 310, then comes back down).

NOTE: this was on Mac M56. I'll try crOS (I've got an ARM unit, not INTEL64).

cannot repro this on either Mac OSX or ChromeOS 58.0.3021.0 (ARM, 32bit).

resolving as WONTFIX. memory doesn't continually increase when watching live TV (flash player).
