Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_2) AppleWebKit/602.3.12 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/10.0.2 Safari/602.3.12 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Set up a text expansion shortcut on OS X 2. Try to use it in Google Chrome What is the expected behavior? The text expansion shortcut works and replaces the shortcut with your phrase. What went wrong? It simply doesn't work at all. Did this work before? No Chrome version: Version 55.0.2883.95 (64-bit) Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.12.2 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0 This has been an issue for the better part of a decade - when will it be fixed? https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=42434

I think it was opened as a new bug since commenting on the original one is disabled (it is really that old). If Google would add OS level Text Replacement it would remove an obstacle to being listed in the App store. More importantly it would allow Mac users to use their iOS and OS Text shortcuts they know and love in a well regarded browser. The goal of Google is to make search easier right?

Agree with @stephen that with the original bug having been filed 8 years ago and comments having been turned off, that the intent is to have a way of participating and encouraging a solution. The often suggested alternative of using a chrome extension from the webstore brings too many security compromises with it. |
