randomly hangouts icon is not added to systray

Reported by episteme...@gmail.com, Dec 29 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. install hangouts extension
2. relaunch chrome
3.

What is the expected behavior?
hangouts icon is added in the systray

What went wrong?
hangouts icon is not added in the systray

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: Version 55.0.2883.87 (64-bit) Channel: n/a
OS Version:
Flash Version:

i checked that hangouts is active

os : opensuse 42.2 x86_64

kde environment
i think i know where is the problem.

when opening a kde session then several apps (chrome is one of them) start. they share systray as a resource. may be there is a conflict.

i made this experiment :
in the kde scheduler i delayed the start of chrome (delay = 1 mn after starting kde session).
in this case no more problem.

there is another app which does not appears in the systray: hp-systray(hp printer monitoring)
with the workaround not only hangouts appears in the systray but also hp-systray.
the two's are non kde apps.
maybe the conflict is between hangouts and hp-systray.

Unable to reproduce this issue on opensuse 42.1 using chrome latest stable M55-55.0.2883.87 by following steps mentioned in the original comment, Observed the hangouts icon is added back to the system tray as expected after relaunching chrome.

episteme@ - Any update on this issue? Are you able to reproduce this issue on chrome latest Dev M57-57.0.2984.0 as well?

did you read the job i accomplish to debug this problem?
