Status icon in Cinnamon does not scalled on HIDPI screens

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Run Mint Linux 18 on a system with a 4k monitor 2. Go into System Settings -> General and change User interface scaling to Double (Hi-DPI) and restart Cinnamon 3. Observe status icon What is the expected behavior? Should scale correctly and be approximately the same size as other status icons. What went wrong? Icon appears half the size it should. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 55.0.2883.87 Channel: stable OS Version: Mint Linux 18 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

I'm also seeing this since upgrading to Debian 9 (stretch) with MATE Desktop. When set to anything above 92 DPI (1.5x, 2x) the Hangouts icon is both small (like in the screenshot above) but also repeats half of itself. See the attached screenshot.
