HUGE REGRESSION: status bar GONE

Reported by teo8...@gmail.com, Dec 27 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Visit any page
2. place the cursor over a link

What is the expected behavior?
At the bottom-left of the window, the url the link points to should be displayed

What went wrong?
the url is not displayed anywhere.

Also, I'm under the impression that the status bar (if that's what it's called) is gone altogether. I'm not seeing the usual messages such as "resolving whatever...", "waiting for response from whatever..." and the like

Did this work before? Yes very, very recently

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.87 Channel: stable
OS Version:
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

Restarting Chrome "fixed" the issue, so I guess it starts happening randomly, triggered by who knows what.

@ teo8976: Are you still able to see this issue after restart.? We tried on the same chrome version and were unable to reproduce on Ubuntu 14.04.

Reopening again. !

No, as I said, the issue was gone after restarting. That only means that it happens randomly and very rarely. Of course you were unable to reproduce, I wouldn't expect you to be able to reproduce it easily at will. It's pretty obvious that it's one of those insidious bugs that only manifest themselves under rare and seemingly random conditions. But that's no good reason for closing it.
Sure. Thanks for the update, Will try again on different flavors of Linux OS and update accordingly.

Just to update, unable to reproduce this issue on Fedora 23, Fedora 24, OpenSUSE 42.1, Ubuntu 14.04 using stable version 56.0.2924.87. Navigated to websites on each OS with links and mouse hovered it. The url the link points is displayed at the bottom of the webpage.

Thanks.!
