My iMac will not get past login screen

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
I downloaded Google Canary yesterday on my iMac. Today I had a notice that my computer needed to be restarted to finish updating. Now it will not get past login screen. Wheel continues to spin.

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: Canary  Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

This is a problem for Apple support.

It may be that a known crash bug in Chrome Canary update process is relevant, but your report time seems to be before that problem was pushed to users and it's hard to see how it would affect the Mac restart process, because Chrome doesn't run until after you have logged in and the Desktop has started.
