chrome crashes during testing with eclipse/chrome.webdriver

Reported by rich...@gmail.com, Dec 23 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.eclipse installed wirh testng and chrome webdriver
2. starting a testcase
3. browser opens, maximize and so on
(if (browserName.toLowerCase().equals(chrome)) {
            System.setProperty("webdriver.chrome.driver", ".\\seleniumComponents\\drivers\\chromedriver.exe");
            driver = new ChromeDriver();
            maximiseAndWait(driver);
            return driver;)

What is the expected behavior?
test runs through

What went wrong?
The test crashes after the last step -> return driver

Did this work before? Yes 54

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.87  Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0

i checked the testcases - OK, worked the day before
checked the webdriver - OK, latest (2.26)
checked Java - OK (latest)
windows 7 - OK (all updates)

richlip@, I tested the below sample code on Windows 7 and it works as expected on Chrome v55.0.2883.87 with Chromedriver v2.26.

WebDriver driver = new WebDriver();
driver.manage().window().maximize();
driver.get("http://www.google.com");

What error message do you see? Can you please provide Chromedriver verbose logs? Here is the information on how to enable verbose logging : https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/chromedriver/logging

so, the problem is fixed, this issue can be closed -> The problem was several updates (Chrome, chromedriver and eclipse together, thanks to our it-department...) and my testsuites in eclipse stopped working. After some fixes in the testcases, the testsuites are working again. Thanks for the help!
