Tried testing this issue in Mac 10.12.2, Win-10 and Ubuntu 14.04 using latest canary #57.0.2962.0. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Navigated to youtube.com 2. Played a video. 3. Did not find any reverse play option. jasonvillmer@ - Could you please be more elaborate on the reverse play option by providing a screen cast if possible. This will help us in triaging the issue further....!! Thanks...!!

I'm tremendously surprised that this issue has gone unresolved for such a long time. So,let me first thank you for taking the time to examine the issue. Second, to expedite a possible solutions, I have created a page demonstrating the issue. Demo page: http://www.villmer.com/playbackrate If this page is viewed in Safari (MacOS or iOS), the negative (reverse) playback values will function properly. Meaning, the playbackRate of the video element will be set to a negative value and will play in reverse at that value. What should happen in Chrome: Video should play in reverse at the negative playbackRate value set. What happens: NOTHING Safari browsers, however, implement the negative playbackRate values properly. For more information on the playbackRate rate, see http://www.w3schools.com/TAgs/av_prop_playbackrate.asp The W3 Schools page indicates Chrome supports the negative values, however, ALL negative values do not work in Chrome. Thanks, Mr. Villmer www.villmer.com

By the way, you can take a look at the source code to see how things are implemented. - Mr. Villmer

jasonvillmer@ - Thanks a lot for your clarification...!! Able to reproduce this issue on Mac 10.12.2, Win-10 and Ubuntu 14.04 using latest canary #57.0.2963.0. This is a non-regression issue as it is observed from M30 old builds. Hence, marking it as untriaged to get more inputs from dev team. Thanks...!!

Sorry, we're not planning to add support for negative playbackrate. See the linked bug for more details.
