Classes that read/write prefs access the prefs service directly, which confuses management of prefs. Instead, pref names (d_r_p_pref_names.{h,cc}) should be opaque to all files except d_r_p_prefs.{h,cc}, and prefs manipulation should be done via methods in that file.
