Judging by the error log this is caused by document.write intervention enabled in Chrome 55: https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5718547946799104

To check whether this is the case, try setting chrome://flags/#disallow-doc-written-script-loads flag to Disabled.

See also https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2016/08/removing-document-write
Retested again with the chrome://flags/#disallow-doc-written-script-loads flag to disabled as per comment #3.

But still didn't observe any crash or non-responsiveness.

Attaching the screencast for your reference.

My comment#3 was for the reporter based on a guess that their connection speed or latency triggers the intervention, which is activated in such cases. I'm not sure this can be reproduced as is without forcing low connection speed in devtools Network panel's "throttling" dropdown in the toolbar (like GPRS or 2G).
