Backspace to delete text is silent in Gmail compose |

Issue descriptionChrome Version: 57.0.2953.0 OS: Win10 Screen Reader: NVDA 2016.4 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Using above, compose new Gmail message (2) In message body, type "this is a test" (3) Backspace to delete text What is the expected result? <character> deleted to be uttered What happens instead? Silence

I tested with the following HTML snippets: 1. <input> 2. <div contenteditable></div> 3. <textarea></textarea> 4. <div aria-label="Message body" contenteditable></div> 5. <div role="textbox" aria-label="Message body" contenteditable></div> And found no issues when backspacing with NvDA. I think Gmail uses something similar to the last snippet, so I don't know why it behaves differently. I'll keep working on this.
