Space/new line characters are not uttered properly in ContentEditables

Issue description

Chrome Version: 57.0.2953.0 
OS: Win10

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Enable Windows NVDA2016.4 (screen reader) to Gmail New Message in Chrome Canary
(2) Type text that has space and new line characters
(3) Cursor to review/edit text

What is the expected result? Space and new line character to be reported

What happens instead?
Space characters are reported after adjacent character are uttered 2x or uttered as "blank"
New line characters are not reported, as blank, or line is repeated 2x.

e.g. copy/paste the below:
"Line 1
Line 2

Line 3"
