This has been working fine for the past 6 months and the error "COULD NOT CONVERT TO PDF" is occurring for printers at remote sites. Issue started yesterday @ 3PM EST. However, we are able to convert the PDF on a printer at a local location successfully. Please see attached screenshots.

Experiencing this on my 2012 Win Server. Have about 30 users working remote from Chrome OS, using RDP app. Since Remote desktop easy print is a no go from Chrome so the cloud print driver was my solution... Headache for sure. Workaround for the time being is printing from my application to CutePDF, moving the resulting file into Drive, and printing from Chrome browser to my google cloud printers. Issue only affects the cloud print driver for Windows.

Happening to every single one of our users trying to use their cloud printers. Over 20 printers right now aren't working. Does anyone have a work around at this time? Anything at all?

As above, all I got is to print to PDF writer such as Adobe, cute PDF, or bullzip, move file into Google drive and print from Chrome browser. I only get error when printing directly from application via the cloud print driver.

When trying to Google cloud print from Office 2013 products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook we receive a message that states "Could not Convert to PDF". It will allow you to select the proper Google cloud printer and select print. After that you get the error message previously stated, and it will not allow you to print your document. The version of Chrome we are on is 55.0.2883.87 m. Lastly, the Google cloud printer driver version is 28.0.1489.0. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. This is hindering printing for our users.

That is actually a different issue being tracked here: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=629512&can=2&start=0&num=100&q=&colspec=ID%20Pri%20M%20Stars%20ReleaseBlock%20Component%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20OS%20Modified&groupby=&sort= Take a look at #127 on that thread for a temporary driver that will allow you to install on Windows 10.

Any updates? I'm walking into a campus tomorrow morning with any way to set expectations on how long until they can print. Yes I know they can upload to google drive, etc. but that's not a satisfactory answer for these users. Please any information on whether you know what the specific issue is and ETA on a fix would be appreciated.

Taking ownership of this bug for the time being. I don't know if I will be able to resolve it though. Initial investigation results: The XPS file generated by the printer driver is valid. I checked that by taking the part of the query to the server carrying the data. Decoding the base64 and saving as XPS file locally which then the XPS viewer of Win 10 can open properly. ------CloudPrintFormBoundaryup18wtg1ljgo\r\nContent-Disposition: form-data; name=\"content\"\r\n\r\ndata:application/vnd.ms-xpsdocument;base64,UEsDB.... In the response which for whatever reason contains the whole data again there is the errocode and message "errorCode":403,"message":"Could not convert to PDF." So this leads me to believe the conversion to pdf is supposed to happen on the cloud print server and fails. Maybe there is something changed about the way XPS is being generated or there is an issue with the converting servers. I will investigate both theories.

Windows 7 in Citrix Citrix Receiver for Google App version 2.2.0.251 Chrome version (in Citrix) 54.0.2840.87 m (64-bit) (and have tested with 55) Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a file using its native app, i.e., a PDF using PDF Reader 2. File > Print 3. Select 'Google Cloud Printer' 4. Click 'Print' Chrome browser opens and list of cloud printers and 'Save to Google Drive' are listed 5. Selecting *any* of the printers or the 'Save to Google Drive' gives the same error 6. Click 'Print' 'Creating a new job...' is displayed ...then the process fails with an error of 'Could not convert to PDF. The print job does *not* show at https://www.google.com/cloudprint/#jobs

Re #28: Thank you for the report! In general you don't have to re-report this issue it is indeed a global issue with the cloud print service which we are working towards fixing. As a temporary workaround you can use any application that can produce PDF files from your documents (or save them straight as PDFs) and then print the PDFs from Chrome. Removing the milestone labels since this is a server side issue and has no correlation with the Chrome release schedule.

The work around I have found is if I upload to google drive and print from preview directly to the cloud printer that seems to work fine its only when going through the cloud virtual printer. Have tested this with word and excel

I have had the same problem. I took board advice and downloaded google chrome canary, installed it, made it default browser. Printed documents from quickbooks to the cloud printer. Once I hit the print button canary went to the bottom tool bar and was flashing. Once it quit flashing I click on it and selected my cloud printer and everything printed properly. My thanks to the board.

After downloading the "TEST_gcp_driver.zip" file from Comment 127 (https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=629512) and running the "install.bat" file, was able to print again! This method did not work yesterday, but works now. Windows Server 2012 R2 Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87 m

I am having this issue with Google Cloud Print app on my tablet. Prints the first copy of a multiple copy print job but then gives the error-could not convert to pdf. It worked OK with my old hp printer, but had to replace it and have been getting the error with the new hp printer.hp office jet pro 6960. Is there a solution? |
