Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Search for a term using the address bar 2. Notice that the default search page is shown: https://www.google.nl/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&ie=UTF-8&rct=j What is the expected behavior? The page with search results should have been shown. What went wrong? A default search page is shown, with the search form in the center of the page. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 55.0.2883.75 Channel: stable OS Version: 7 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0 - the issue does not reproduce when opening an incognito window - removing the file 'history' from the profile resolves the issue temporarily - the issue is occurring intermittently for multiple users. Starting with a new profile does not help.

The reporter has sent me a profile that can be used to reproduce this (have not tested locally).

Please update us with your observations. P.S: Unable to play the attached video on Windows and MAC OS. Could you please help us with another screencast in Mp4 format.

@ranjitkan: have you used the profile I sent to pkasting? Resetting chrome only helps temporarily.

@pkasting: Can you please take a look and provide an update as mentioned in comment#5

Sigh. I went to redownload the profile archive that was emailed to me to test it, and now Gmail is blocking my download saying the archive contains a "virus or blocked file". So I went to forward the mail to a non-gmail account of mine and I'm not allowed to forward it either. Reporter, could you re-send the archive to me (for convenience, you sent this around Dec. 14, 2016) and name it something gmail won't auto-analyze, like "profile.xyz"? Hopefully that will work.

I can't reproduce using the profile sent to me by the reporter. I do notice that we're using Chrome Instant here -- the SRP is loaded with the address bar showing what's given in comment 0, then I see the address change to append "#q=foo&*" (or similar), and the results appear. I wonder if there's some known set of reasons why that last step might not happen, and we might get a broken instant SRP. +CC samarth in hopes he can answer this or knows who can.
