Greyed out new tab / can't use

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.99 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Opening Chrome
2. Opening new tab
3. Attempting to visit a webpage

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
Grey/black browser window. 'Untitled' tab. Can't navigate to any web address.

Reference this issue which has been closed off and first appear in Chrome 26... https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=231685 I experience same error

How much crashed? Just one tab

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A 

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: 54.0.2840.99  Channel: stable
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

Resolved the issue using the fix described in the previous issue, right-click on Chrome icon in taskbar and uncheck 'run in background'

As per the the Description, you say it is resolved. Can you please confirm on the same. 

Adding 'Needs-Milestone' label, TE will work on the issue as per the feedback provided by user and will add respective milestone.

I meant that I resolved the issue in my browser. It means I can't let Chrome run in background (fine for me, perhaps not for others).

Unable to reproduce the issue on windows-7, Mac-10.11.6 and linux Ubuntu 14.04 using chrome stable version 55.0.2883.87 and latest canary 57.0.2952.0 with the steps mentioned above.

Could you please upgrade to the latest Chrome version and please let us know your observations if the issue still persists.
