On my corp machine, I have several extensions active - adblock, password alert, beyondcorp, secure shell. I have several profiles, each of which has each of these extensions active. When I take a trace, every one of these extensions seems to be doing non-stop work [every 16 ms] despite the fact that the foreground tab is my "chrome://tracing" tab. Either each of these extensions is implemented poorly [infinite, tight loop] or there is something broken with our extensions implementation. Note that tracing doesn't provide any more insight into the exact nature of the problem.

Can we:
1) Investigate the nature of this problem? pinkerton@ sees similar behavior on his machine.
2) Add more tracing hooks so that when we see this in the problem, we'll have a better idea about what these extensions are doing?
