google play music using audio output device when no music playing.

Project Member Reported by erikc...@chromium.org, Dec 9 2016

Issue description

I've attached a trace, a screenshot of the webpage, and the output from chrome://media-internals.

Not sure if this is a google play bug or a Chrome bug. The AudioOutputDevice thread in process 38093 is processing work [probably a no-op] every 5ms.

I haven't killed this browser session yet, so please let me know if there's other debugging you need from me.

Sadly the media_internals grab doesn't include the contents of audio output controllers or audio output streams. Can you manually paste those here?

I suspect they've started using WebAudio and are not suspending the audio context properly.

+stromme who I think still works on play music.
Unfortunately, my Chrome crashed between now and then. I will repost if I see this again.
Saw this again. Played google play music for a while. Stopped. Came back in ~hour.

Yeah it looks like they've started using WebAudio; which is unfortunate for a music player in terms of power consumption. At least it should suspend the context if nothing is playing.

stromme@ should we route this to a buganizer?

rtoy@ did support land yet for setting larger buffer sizes?

Comment 6 by rtoy@chromium.org, Dec 12 2016

No, the larger buffer sizes hasn't landed yet. It's in progress, but I'm still waiting for 3 lghtms for the intent (minor tweak needed in the spec).

This issue can be closed since Google Play Music Web Player does not use WebAudio anymore.
