Spellcheck fails to catch simple mistakes (intersting -> interesting)

Project Member Reported by pdr@chromium.org, Dec 8 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version: 56.0.2924.18
OS: MacOS 10.11.6

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Type "intersting" in an input box (like the comment box on this page)
(2) Notice the red squigglies
(3) Right click to correct the spelling

What is the expected result?
"interesting" should be an option for the misspelling

What happens instead?
The spellchecker cannot figure out that I left off an "e" and does not suggest that I misspelled "interesting".

Typing interestin (left off 'g') correctly suggests "interesting" as the correct spelling.
Typing iteresting (left off 'n') correctly suggests "interesting" as the correct spelling.
Typing intersting (left off 'e') does not suggest "interesting" as the correct spelling.

Doesn't seem like a Blink issue.

Alas, this is an OSX issue. The OSX spellchecker corrects things seemingly somewhat at random - see the two sample sentences attached. Once in Chrome, once in TextEdit. In both applications the behavior is the same -> it's system spellchecker behavior.

In both applications, intersting is sometimes flagged as wrong, and sometimes not, depending.

+shrike, since we probably should file an rdar and I'm not sure how to.

Closing since we can't track the external dependency
