Multiline select with keyboard is broken in docked mode |
||||||
Issue descriptionVersion 55.0.2883.76 beta (64-bit) Platform 8872.65.0 (Official Build) beta-channel samus ARC Version 3532895 Firmware Google_Samus.6300.174.0 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Connect external display, keyboard, & mouse. (2) Close lid to enter docked mode (3) Open any page with a text control and multiple lines of text (4) use shift + arrows to select text What is the expected result? Text is selected normally. What happens instead? Selection is correct within a single line and occasionally 2 lines, but attempting to select more than 2 lines with keyboard deselects prior lines before selecting new ones. Mouse text selection seems to work normally

Ok. Another question. Is this reproducible by switching tabs instead of entering docked mode?

Forgot malaykeshav@ is OOO ATM. afakhry@ can you or warx@ take a look. tkent@ No. Switching tabs is fine. I think you're thinking docked windows, while I'm talking about docked MODE - laptop closed and connected to an external display. I'm actually able to repro this now on any external display. That wasn't the case in my ealier tests. Not sure what changed or if I was doing something differently initially.

Interesting... I just did some more playing with this while editing my last comment. There's different behavior depending on how I press shift... If I do: 1: Press and hold shift 2: Arrow up or down 3: Release shift 4: goto 1 Things work as expected. I get multiline selection. If I do: 1: Press and hold shift 2: Arrow up or down 3: goto 2 Then the first press of an arrow selects the line. The second and later DESELECTS the previous line and doesn't select anything new.

Argh! I just discovered that this only happens with a particular keyboard. The pattern I thought I had observed (external displays or docked mode) was actually the result of inconsistency from the hardware. Sorry for the wild-goose-chase folks. Looks like I just have a broken keyboard. |
