Opening a PDF from the extension's local filesystem crashes the extension

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.75 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Save a PDF to the local file system of the extension
2. Open the PDF file via this HTML file in the extension:
<html><head><title>chrome-pdf-iframe</title></head>
<body style="margin: 0px;">
<embed id="pdf" type="application/pdf" src="filesystem:chrome-extension://fmocgcogljjcjbhjegbppiagonaibchd/persistent/SOMEID">
</body>
</html>

What is the expected behavior?
Show the PDF file using Chrome's internal PDF viewer.

What went wrong?
The extension crashed.

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.75  Channel: stable
OS Version: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Unable to reproduce the issue on Ubuntu 14.04 with chrome beta version #55.0.2883.75.

These are the steps i have performed

1. Opened google chrome
2. Installed paperpile extension
3. Uploaded test.pdf file
4. Viewed the uploaded test.pdf file

Observed no chrome extension crash.

Attaching screen-cast for your reference, please look into it and let us know any steps i have missed while reproducing the issue.

We have updated the extension in the meantime, that the page that caused the error is not loaded anymore. I will check if I can manage to compile another test case.
