What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Automatic updating turned off
(2) Go to Settings / About to check current Chrome version
(3) Chrome starts updating automatically without asking nor allowing me to cancel it

What is the expected result?

Chrome does nothing and allows me to make decisions regarding the performance and maintenance of my computer.

What happens instead?

Frustration and Anger, particularly as my computer was tethered to my phone for internet access at the time and my mobile data is limited and expensive.
