Find tool (command + F) not showing the number of matches found

Reported by anish.15...@gmail.com, Nov 30 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version : <Copy from: 'about:version'>
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested: Safari
Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
     Safari: OK
    Firefox:
         IE:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Select a phrase on the page and copy it (Command+C).
(2) Use Command+F to open the find tool.
(3) Paste the phrase into the find tool (Command+V).

What is the expected result?
The find tool should show the number of matches for that phrase.

What happens instead?
the find tool does not show the number of matches for that phrase.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

Attached are images that explain the problem clearly. In figure 1, when I search for google, it does not show the number of matches for that phrase although it does find matches for that page. When I click on the page, the number of results are then displayed as can be seen in figure 2. Previously, the number of matches would be seen straight away when a phrase was entered.

I see it. What's your Chrome version? Copy and paste from chrome://version.
Chrome version - 54.0.2840.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Interesting -- this reproduces in 54.0.2840.98, but does not reproduce in 57.0.2937.0. It appears to have been fixed.
I just tested it and it looks like it's been fixed. Thank you!

Any thoughts on why this still happens in Chrome for me?

54.0.2840.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)

You will see in the attached screen shot that I searched for "p" but it does not return a number.

It seemed to be working when the issue was closed but it's happening again. The matches don't show up.
