Config for auto filling period

Issue description

Chrome Version       : 57.0.2925.0
URLs (if applicable) : https://anotepad.com/ (or any web page containing a textarea)
Other browsers tested:
    Firefox: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Open up any web page with a textarea in it.
(2) Type "hello".
(3) Type 2 SPACEs.

What is the expected result?
2 spaces after "hello" (i.e. "hello  ").

What happens instead?
I see "hello. "

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

The weirdest part of this issue is that it is not always reproducible. It may happen after reboot the system, but disappeared after like 2 minutes. After hours of using, it may happen again.

In addition, this problem also happen when hitting two ENTERs.

Could you please confirm the OS platform where you are seeing the issue. As per screenshot looks to be related to chromium OS. Please confirm if the issue is seen on regular official Chrome builds as well.

Checked on Mac OS 10.11.6 using latest canary(57.0.2935.0), I was unable to repro the issue.
