Save as PDF does not work when the subject of email in Gmail is larger than 237 characters. |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version : 54.0.2840.99 Tried Chrome Beta 55.0.2883.59 and Canary 57.0.2931.1 and still happens Not reproducible in other browsers since "save to PDF" is a Chrome feature exclusively. What steps will reproduce the problem? 1- Receive an email with a subject larger than 237 characters in Gmail. 2- Open the email. 3- Click on the Print icon from the Gmail interface. 4- Change the destination to ‘Save as PDF’ 5- Click on the blue ‘Save’ button 6- Nothing will happen. What is the expected result? The browser should be able to save as PDF the email content in a PDF file What happens instead? The browser is not doing anything when tried to save a PDF file from this message. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. Drive folder google.com restricted containing screencast and net-internal json. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B0nGBnDjvEr5WFVPV1VpRjRoT0k?usp=sharing

Sorry I couldn't reproduce the issue on 54.0.2840.99 m (64-bit) on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Could you provide the platform info? Windows 32bit or 64bit? Is it reproducible on incognito mode, another device, another user?

Thanks maurormn@ for the detailed steps. Able to reproduce the issue on the latest canary(57.0.2936.0), latest stable(54.0.2840.99) on Windows-10. Works fine on Mac OS 10.11.6 and Linux Ubuntu 14.04. Regressed in M-39: Last good build: 39.0.2132.0 [Used to show warning dialog when trying to save the pdf] First bad build: 39.0.2133.0 [Nothing happens on clicking the save as pdf] Changelog: ========== https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+log/fd0834f85a155bcb248a8a25b32c4f5838ba091c..8ba2efc905bd5341316c2533e2ec4b4d2e07d0f4 Suspected change: https://codereview.chromium.org/487453002. Looks like the author of CL(erikwright@) no longer works for the project. Hence assigning to jschuh@ as one of the reviewer of the CL for help in finding an appropriate owner for this. Thank you!

Followed the steps in comment 6 and I cannot reproduce this on Windows 10 64 bit with latest stable (55.0.2883.87) or canary (57.0.2966.0). It successfully saves the e-mail with the long subject line as a PDF. Tested with a number of different settings; what were the settings when the problem occurred? (Headers/footers, background graphics, pages, orientation, page size)

Tested again today on stable (same as before) as well as Canary (58.0.2990.0) and still can't reproduce on Windows 10. Is this still an issue? Reducing priority as it is a corner case and hard to duplicate.

Closing as I cannot duplicate this and have not received feedback. Please re-open if this problem recurs on the latest Canary/Stable. |
