Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.98 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Join session https://apollodemo01.bbcollab.com/collab/ui/session/guest/8A5D356DFE1118DC9196240915B8CD23 as 2 or more Chrome participants. Confirm mic works as expected and participants can hear each other ok. 2. Use Chrome as you would normally to access webpages, including trying above session from time to time. 3. Don't quit Chrome or Shut down Mac/PC for some days. 4. Try session as mentioned in Step 1. What is the expected behavior? Microphone should have continued to work normally. What went wrong? Sometimes, Microphone stops working in the session. If a test is done on WebRTC Troubleshooter page - https://test.webrtc.org/ - Microphone fails there too. I will try and get Chrome debug logs for it and upload on this ticket. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 54.0.2840.98 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.12.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

mac triage: assigning to dalecurtis@ for investigation or routing. This looks difficult to repro. Is it a known problem already?

This reminds me of an external report that the microphone stops working after using another desktop app that uses the microphone, like Skype. Any chance that's a factor for this issue?

Questions for the reporter: 1. On exactly what Mac model(s) have you noticed the problem? 2. Just to confirm - you are using the built-in microphone, right? olka@: Any correlation with existing bugs for Mac audio?

This may be issue 4799 . Questions to the reporter: 1) "trying above session from time to time" - are you constantly in the session, or do you joint and leave it from time to time? 2) "Microphone stops working in the session" - is it in the middle of the session, or it does not work when the session is started? 3) Have you ever observed it before system suspend/resume (I guess there should be several of those in a course of 'some days')? 4) How microphone failure looks like in the application? 5) What https://test.webrtc.org/ reports when microphone fails there? Thank you!

-- I meant webrtc bug https://bugs.chromium.org/p/webrtc/issues/detail?id=4799, not chromium one.

solenberg@ - Please find response below: 1. On exactly what Mac model(s) have you noticed the problem? -- It has happened on Mac OSX 10.12 (Sierra) most recently, earlier it was happening on 10.11 El Capitan and 10.10 Yosemite as well 2. Just to confirm - you are using the built-in microphone, right? -- It almost always happen with the Apple Earbud connected to the Mac. olka@ - Please find response below: 1) "trying above session from time to time" - are you constantly in the session, or do you joint and leave it from time to time? -- I join it and leave it from time to time. 2) "Microphone stops working in the session" - is it in the middle of the session, or it does not work when the session is started? -- Microphone does not work when you join the session and start mic in it for the first time, not in middle of the session. 3) Have you ever observed it before system suspend/resume (I guess there should be several of those in a course of 'some days')? -- Yes, it can happen without system suspend/resume on same day but more likely to happen with system suspend/resume in a course of some days. 4) How microphone failure looks like in the application? There is no mic activity when it fails (we show an alert for it mentioning that user is not audible). 5) What https://test.webrtc.org/ reports when microphone fails there? - It happened today on my MacBook Pro OSX 10.12 Sierra, Google Chrome Version 54.0.2840.98 (64-bit) and I got this error - "Audio capture [ OK ] Audio track created using device=Default [ FAILED ] No active input channels detected. Microphone is most likely muted or broken, please check if muted in the sound settings or physically on the device. Then rerun the test." Yes, it does look similar to https://bugs.chromium.org/p/webrtc/issues/detail?id=4799

Thank you abhinajao@. Couple more questions: 1) Does it seem to be somehow related to unplugging/re-plugging the headset? 2) Does microphone work in other applications when it starts to fail in Chrome?
