Regression:Extension overlay appears blank after opening in "lebanon-weather-info" extension

Chrome Version: 57.0.2929.3 (Official Build)3619fbd7f57a1d171fac4d4adedde499f17eec95-refs/branch-heads/2929@{#3} 32/64-bit.
OS: Windows (7,8,8.1,10),Linux (14.04 LTS),Mac OS X(10.10.5, 10.11.4)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1)Launch chrome,navigate to the above URL and click on add to chrome.
(2)Click on extension icon in Extensions overlay.
(3)Click on the profile icon and observe.

Actual:Extension overlay appears blank after opening.

Expected:Extension overlay should open properly.

This is a Regression issue broken in M-55,will soon update other info.

Good build:55.0.2853.0
Bad build:55.0.2854.2

Using the per-revision bisect providing the bisect results,
Good build: 55.0.2853.0 (Revision: 416812).
Bad build: 55.0.2854.2 (Revision: 417283).

You are probably looking for a change made after 417101 (known good), but no later than 417102 (first known bad).

Looks similar to https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=653062, which I wasn't able to reproduce.

I'm OOO this week. ojan, would you mind taking a look? I can take back on Dec 5.

Just to update the latest behavior of the bug, Issue is still observed on chrome latest Dev M57-57.0.2943.0

I'm able to reproduce this. The problem is that the extension popup is iframing http://www.lebanonweatherinfo.com, which has the following on line 15:

<script>if(top!==self){top.location=location;}</script>

So, they are explicitly trying to break out of being framed. Before https://codereview.chromium.org/2392773002, this line would silently fail. Now, we unload the frame to keep framebusting working.

Do we have a contact at lebanonweatherinfo? 

We could fix this by not unloading the frame in chrome-extension URLs, but that doesn't seem good for the consistency of the platform. Since this extension only has 10 users I think we should close this bug as WontFix unless we find it to be a more common pattern.

Please reopen if we do get contacts at lebanonweatherinfo or if I'm missing something.
