[Presentation API] For 1-UA/2-UA show origin of URL being presented |
|||||||||
Issue descriptionAs part of security review for 2-UA/1-UA (and as recommended by the spec [1]) we should show the users the origin of the URL being presented, both before presentation starts and while presentation is ongoing. I can produce some quick and dirty mocks but we may want something more refined before starting work. [1] https://w3c.github.io/presentation-api/#user-interface-guidelines

+apacible who has some history with the dialog. Now that we are shipping 1-UA on desktop, the need for this is more urgent. Stephen, do you have time to take a look at this? Here are some specific proposals. * The Cast mode picker shows the origin that is the source of the presentation, but not the target. It actually just says "Cast To" by default; to see origin information, you have to click the dropdown arrow. Can we change the dropdown title to "Cast <origin> To?" * Once the 1UA presentation is started, the route details page shows "Chrome Mirroring" with a subtitle of the presentation URL. I would propose changing the title to the presentation page origin and the subtitle to the presentation page title (truncated if necessary). * For the screen picker with an active 1UA route, I would show just the presentation page origin.

My concern with showing the origin in the dialog would be space. Can the width of the dialog change to accommodate reallylondgomainnameslikethisexamplehere.com? If it can then I think "Cast <source> to" is a reasonable way to go here. Your suggestion for Chrome Mirroring details view sgtm.

Ping Mark; what's the next step here?

I think item #1 is covered by 704964, in essence. Items #2 and #3 can be done when creating the 1-UA mirroring route in the component extension. |
