Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: Highlight some text (does not seem to happen when a site has set custom colors for highlight) What is the expected behavior? Text becomes highlighted as normal e.g. the background becomes blue and the text becomes white, but that can vary. What went wrong? Background and text becomes white. If the background is normally white, the highlight is invisible. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 54.0.2840.100 Channel: stable OS Version: openSUSE Leap 42.2 Flash Version: 23.0.0.207

I can't reproduce this on my Ubuntu 12, 54.0.2840.100. Can anyone confirm this, or try on openSUSE?

I have the same problem with openSUSE Leap 42.2

Is this using KDE as a DE, or something else? (I think we get the colors to use from GTK?)

Unable to reproduce the issue on openSUSE Leap 42.1 using chrome stable #54.0.2840.100. Attached a screen shot for your reference. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Navigated to wikipedia.com 2. Selected text to highlight. 3. Observed that text became highlighted as normal e.g. the background became blue and the text became white as expected. Reporter@ - Could you please check this issue on latest dev #56.0.2924.10 by creating a new profile without any apps and extensions and please let us know if the issue still persist or not. Thanks...!!

What's your appearance settings. It only seems to happen if you've set it to use the GTK theme. Also, it does not seem to happen in Google Chrome, only in Chromium (which I've installed from the main repos) .

I can reproduce it on a clean profile with the above steps, in Chromium 55.0.2883.75. Not sure if it matters, but I'm on Leap 42.2, not 42.1. I'm also getting the same thing on a different computer with Tumbleweed. Also check if the KDE GTK theme settings match.

Back to test for another go at reproducing. It's not clear how we will fix this, however, and if it's only in Chromium it's a low priority.

I'm going to WontFix this. The reality is that we do not have the resources to try to fix something with a relatively tiny number of affected users (who I appreciate are very much affected) and where a workaround exists (use Chrome, use a different theme, not ideal but possible). Given the problem is with Chromium on a machine that you should be able to build on, I think it's up to the OpenSUSE community to address the problem. |
