Not able to sign in to Chrome after sync reset. |

Issue descriptionENVIRONMENT and STATS Chrome version: 56.0.2922.0 OS: Windows 7 REPRO STEPS 1. Sign in to Chrome. 2. Reset sync via the Google dashboard (https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync) 3. Wait for few seconds and make sure that the user is signed out of chrome 4. Go to chrome://settings and sign in to Chrome ACTUAL RESULTS Stuck at "Set up Sync" state (see the screenshot). Confirmation dialog is not displayed. EXPECTED RESULTS After signing in, the confirmation dialog should be displayed. ADDITIONAL INFO This is also reproduced sometimes when sign out and sign in back to Chrome. I could only repro this on Windows machine. Working fine on Mac and chromebook. This looks like a recent regression. Worked fine when tested last week on build 56.0.2913.0

The issue is that when signing in the second time "You are now signed in to chrome" confirmation is not shown and PSS::SetFirstSetupComplete() is not called.

The issue is introduced between 56.0.2913.5 and 56.0.2914.0. I narrowed it down to SigninViewControllerDelegateViews::DisplayModal() not being called to display "You are now signed in to chrome" notification. Easier repro steps: - Sign in to chrome - Sign out - Sign in again - Observe that notification is not displayed. Also about:settings will show "Setup in progress..." Anthony, could you investigate?

This is no more reproduced in today's dev build (56.0.2924.18). I am able to log out and login to Chrome without any issues. Can we close the bug if this has been fixed?

This bug seems to have been magically fixed (see comment #6). Marking it as WontFix as we have not really done work to fix this bug. |
